For those with more independent living skills, supported apartments allow roommates to live in a Bancroft apartment with periodic check-ins and support from staff members who maintain an office in the apartment complex.
Community Options hosts an annual national conference to discuss services to people with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injury. For adults with autism and intellectual or developmental disabilities who require support with daily living tasks, Bancroft offers community-based residential programs in group homes and apartments throughout southern New Jersey. We provide community-based residences in safe and attractive neighborhoods and communities.
Residential
During the week, residents may attend Day Program services, or take part in a supervised or supported employment programs at a Bancroft facility or in the community. Direct care staff support each person in developing and improving daily living skills and accessing community services, recreation and engagement – while building independence at every opportunity. We seek to ensure that the individuals we serve through our housing services have person-centered supports that allow them to experience the highest degree of self-determination. Community Options, Inc. was incorporated on February 9, 1989 to develop residential and employment supports for people with severe disabilities. At the time the need for a residential placement becomes necessary, a case manager or Support Coordinator can explore residential options with the individual. Individuals may decide to live in the community and rent from a private landlord. In addition, the Department of Human Services’ Office of Licensing licenses certain residential programs to ensure that providers meet quality standards. Community Options operates several businesses in the United States that employ people with disabilities.
Community Options Annual Conference
With a dedicated board and a staff in excess of 5,000 people, Community Options is funded primarily through federal, state, local and philanthropic investments. All stakeholders believe that every person regardless of the significance of their disabilities should have the opportunity to be employed and to live in local neighborhoods like any other American. In fact, Community Options provide services to more than 5,000 persons with disabilities, and many with very significant disabilities.
With approximately 5,000 employees, it is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in New Jersey. Community Options operates over 550 group homes in the country, including 150 in New Jersey and 120 in Pennsylvania. Indigenous governance under the auspice of a national to regional to local model ensures maintaining the philosophical and ethical integrity of the nonprofit juxtaposed against state and city statutes and regulations.
Expanding Community Options
Community Options does not believe people with disabilities should be placed in segregated settings such as state schools, supported living centers, developmental centers, institutions or nursing homes. Throughout our history we have participated in institutional closure and community residential placement for thousands of people across several states. Individuals with disabilities have advocated for their civil rights, which have been afforded to them through the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Further affirmation came in 1999 with the United States Supreme Court’s Olmstead Decision, which confirmed that unjustified segregation is a violation of the ADA. Community Options, Inc. of Burlington County, NJ was established in 1992 to provide residential and employment support services to individuals with disabilities living in Delran, Florence, Marlton, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Willingboro and other local areas. Local executive directors working collaboratively with persons with disabilities, their families, guardians and state contractors and regulators handle all aspects of admission and programmatic development from housing acquisition to supported employment.

Environmentally friendly from start to finish, additional project details call for the disassembly of an existing large barn, relocation and renovation of a smaller barn, dismantling of the original farm house and construction of a new sustainable Community Options home. Cupid's Chase 5K is an annual fundraising race presented by Community Options. Supports Coordinator and request a referral to Bancroft’s residential program. Bancroft group homes, located in beautiful suburban neighborhoods in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem counties, offer 24/7 staffing for up to four adults with varying levels of need.
Cupid's Chase 5K
To combat this lack of awareness, ICHNJ spends a portion of its reinvestment funds on a broad education and marketing plan to both current nursing home residents and individuals who wish to remain at home and to avoid nursing home placement. This marketing campaign's primary message is “A Nursing Home May Not Be Your Only Option” and features strategies for facility-based marketing and education as well as focused messaging for local/regional communities. At the local level, we are visiting every nursing facility in New Jersey, speaking and tabling at dozens of local/community events (senior expos, health fairs, etc.) and placing advertising in local, regional, and statewide media outlets . Employees' duties include retail management, point-of-sale software, customer relations skills and store layout. The first Daily Plan It opened in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1997 and there are additional Daily Plan It facilities in Morristown, New Jersey, and Wayne, New Jersey. Community Options and the Parents Group opened The Red Ribbon Academy in 2013.
Community Options’ programs incorporate the Gentle Teaching philosophy, a way of educating and supporting individuals that promotes trusting relationships. Community Options, Inc. is a nationally based nonprofit (IRS 501 certified) organization incorporated in 1989 and headquartered in Princeton, NJ. Individuals living in a provider-managed setting may be charged an additional payment by the provider to cover certain room and board costs, which is explained further in the Guidance on Individual Funds Charged by Residential Providers. The provider and individual will sign a residency agreement or lease, which should identify the individual’s contribution and payments and outline the rights and responsibilities of both.
Employees are responsible for credit card processing, phone orders, shipping, distribution, inventory management and floral arranging. With staff support, residents contribute to daily responsibilities and chores, learning life skills like cooking, cleaning and laundry in the process. We are seeking Direct Support Professionals , Caregivers, Direct Care Staff, and Home Health Aides to join our team. Many of our residences are barrier-free ranch homes with two to four bedrooms. Individuals living in these homes receive 24/7 direct support care from highly trained staff who understand the individual’s Habilitation or Support Plan. Community Options maintains national grant writing, public relations, social media, information technology, training, quality assurance and mission advancement teams that work in tandem with the local offices. Property acquisition, renovation and on site management are replicated locally using nationally proven models. This includes templates for successful proven entrepreneurial businesses, supported employment models, internships for students with disabilities, and meaningful day supports.
The #GivingTuesday movement was created to unite us all in a day of generosity, to make a difference in the world through donations to organizations we care about at the start of the holiday season. For adults with more complicated behavioral needs who need a higher degree of supervision and support, Bancroft offers two programs in Southern New Jersey that balance intensive intervention with skill building. Staff help schedule and facilitate community outings and in-home activities for those who select to participate – or individuals can relax in whatever way they choose. Community Options has a centrally based infrastructure in Princeton, New Jersey for all administrative and business operations. Spacious apartments with 24-hour staff supervision feature private bedrooms and shared common areas. Staff members provide support in meal preparation and other daily living tasks. Staff also manage medication, schedule appointments, and provide transportation to and from day programs, community outings and appointments as needed.
